My life story thus far is a mosaic of inspiration, challenge, success, failure, learning, reflection, growth, and fulfillment. I have navigated the world from a foundation of privilege that has afforded me the opportunity to work toward my goals while also advocating for those who are marginalized or mistreated.

My educational journey included completing a B.A. in psychology and a B.Ed. in middle years education at Brandon University. After 18 years of teaching, I transitioned into the role of Indigenous Support Counsellor for the Southeast Kootenay School District, located in the east Kootenay region of British Columbia and on the ancestral unceded territory of the Ktunaxa peoples. An increased awareness of the mental health challenges people may be experiencing, paired with my continued passion for supporting others, became the catalyst for finally fulfilling my dream of obtaining a graduate degree in counselling psychology, which I will complete in April of 2025.

My approach to therapy is compassionate, inclusive, culturally informed, and client-centered, emphasizing empowerment, self-awareness, and building effective coping strategies. I understand that each person’s journey is unique, and I aim to meet clients where they are while fostering trust and respect throughout the therapeutic process. Whether a youth or adult is dealing with life transitions, past trauma, interpersonal relationship issues, grief, symptoms of depression or anxiety, substance use, or simply aiming to improve overall well-being, I am here to help them explore new perspectives and develop the tools to reach goals that align with their personal values. I use a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, tailored to each client’s unique needs.

In addition to my clinical work, I am passionate about equity in access to services and systems. I strive to use my experience, position, and knowledge to advocate for others and remove systemic barriers, empowering each person to have choice and control over their own life story. Outside of my practice, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, gardening, cooking, paddleboarding, dancing, listening to music, and appreciating all the gifts and beauty that nature provides.
